Heya guys!
Your stuff on one-shots was great. It’s something I really needed to hear because most of the games in DL-Quarterly are one-shots. Cutthroat, Standoff, and Holmes & Watson can all be completely played in 2 hours or less. Partly, I think that is a product of these games coming from game design contests (which, incidently, didn’t the Roach come from Game Chef?), and partly I felt a one-shot game would lower the barrier to entry.
Thanks for bringing up this topic. A lot of gamers treat games as one shots- even big games like DnD or Champions. So…cool! :)
Peace,

While I am a master spy and I do walk away from the table during one-shots to force the group to deal with each other, I tend to do it in the middle of games, rather than at the beginning. This is especially true of deathtraps in pulp games.

Roach = GC 2005. Paul, I think your “walk away” thing is pure gold. Sorry if we misinterpreted your true genius there.

Great show! I’m running a one shot next week, so it was especially good for me right now.
Clinton: Can you talk more about the game you’re working on? The one for short, one-shot sessions? Maybe it’s not ready for public discussion. But I’m very curious.
I kind of hope it’s Tiny Triangles. I’ve been reading the comics and I’m all fired up to play that. :-)
